Float valves are used to adjust water flow between skimmer and main drain (If plumbed that way) or between 2 skimmer that are plumbed together. You need to adjust the valve to give the 2nd skimmer or main drain more suction.
You can also close the valve completely to shut the skimmer that the valve is in completely off.
Service Note: If you have an in floor cleaning system and your main drain is tied into your skimmer, You must have this valve or your cleaning system cannot operate Properly. The main drain must be sucking to keep the dirt from bottom of pool.
